My first thought when someone mentions the Met Gala is: Stairs. A lot of stairs. That’s because the celebrities who score an invite to the event actually have to ascend the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to get to the party. That might not sound too bad at first, but factor in that most of the attendees are wearing extravagant outfits: sky-high heels, trains that go for miles, and (at least last night) extreme headpieces. The heavy wardrobe makes doing any activity difficult—let alone walking up a steep flight of stairs.
So sometimes people take a breather and sit on the steps midway through their pilgrimage to the top—as anyone would. When Jesus walked in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, you don’t think he took a break? That’s a long journey, as is walking up the steps of the Met. And since last night’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” the sitting breaks were basically sanctioned by the Lord himself.
We’ve spotted four celebrities (so far) who reclined for a sec on their way up the Met Gala steps. First, we have Katy Perry, who obviously needed to take five because of the gargantuan angel wings on her back.

Then there was Ariana Grande, whose horizontal pose on the carpet was, well, heavenly.
Up next was AJ Calloway, who fully lounged on the steps like Diddy from last year.
And last but not least, we have 2 Chainz, who took a knee to propose to his partner, Nakesha Ward. That’s a very good excuse to sit down, IMO.
Fans of Grande, Perry, and 2 Chainz were, naturally, living for their Met Gala kick-backs. Here are the best reactions that we found:

We love a good sitting moment.
