Drew Barrymore Literally Eats Human Flesh in the First Trailer for Netflix's New Show *Santa Clarita Diet*

[ad_1]

Charlie’s Angels High Priestess Drew Barrymore has been noticeably absent from our entertainment queues for quite some time now. She has two young children and recently finalized her divorce from art consultant Will Kopelman, so we understand if she needed a little breather—but we’ve missed her! A one-episode stint on Bravo’s scripted series Odd Mom Out is not good enough; we need a string of slayworthy Drew Barrymore films to wet our whistles.

Or a bomb-ass new Netflix series—which is exactly what we’re getting. The streaming giant dropped a teaser trailer for its new show, Santa Clarita Diet, during the Golden Globes broadcast on Sunday night (January 8), and it stars Barrymore as—wait for it— a literal human flesh-eater. Like, she munches on people—or at least their remains. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Hannibal Lecter cackling with glee.

The new 30-second promo for Santa Clarita Diet is styled after those annoying diet commercials that bombard us every year around this time. (Sidebar: Don’t diet. You’re perfect!) The testimonial comes from Sheila (Barrymore), who reveals she has more energy and feels sexier now that she’s on the Santa Clarita Diet. Sheila’s friends want to know what this program entails, and because she’s a generous queen, she spills the tea blood: eating humans.

“I satisfy all of my cravings—and eat whoever I want,” Barrymore says. That’s right. Not what. Whom. (SHE MEANS PEOPLE!!!)

But Sheila isn’t a cannibal: She’s a zombie. Recently released details from Netflix reveal that Sheila actually dies in the show but comes back to life with an appetite for flesh. Sheila’s husband, Joel (Timothy Olyphant), has to help her keep these cravings in check—especially because they run a real estate business, where they meet new people (read: snacks) every day. I’m sold—and also a little hungry now. Does that make me psychotic?

Check out the cheeky teaser, below.

Netflix also released some photos to get us stoked for the show, like these diet-book-cover parodies. We’re living—or should we say dying?
