Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Life-Sized Baby Groot Toy Unveiled

When it comes to Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, a life-sized toy version wouldn’t fit through your door jam. Fortunately or unfortunately, he was blown to smithereens in that first outing, obliterated into a pile of busted branches. One of these twigs has grown into what is known as Baby Groot, and as luck would have it, this living plant is what you could call a real ‘ankle-biter’. He’s the size of a doll. So it makes sense that we’ll be getting a life-sized version of Baby Groot soon enough.

Over the weekend, NECA unveiled their life-sized Baby Groot toy. We have images of this cute little bugger in the gallery below. He is 10″ of foam rubber and latex, and he makes a great gift, though unfortunately he won’t be arriving in time for the Holidays. This little guy won’t be in stores until April 2017.

Baby Groot was created using the original digital files that brought him to life in James Gunn’s Marvel Phase 3 sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This makes for a very screen accurate figure that will be fun for all ages, and will probably be owned by more adults then kids when it comes right down to it. Groot was one of the more popular characters in 2014’s Guardians, and it was a movie chalk full of break out characters that also included the likes of Rocket Raccoon and Drax. The official NECA website announces this.

“Add some pint-sized protection to home or office with this life-size Groot replica from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Groot stands 10″ tall and was created using the actual digital files used in making the movie for screen accuracy. The figure is made of foam rubber and latex that’s hand painted for incredibly lifelike detail. Tray box packaging.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast includes the return of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell as Ego, the Living Planet. Who also happens to be Star Lord’s dad.

Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand. Take a look at Baby Groot, who could be coming home with you next year.
