Whatever Happened to DC's Booster Gold Movie?

[ad_1]

Warner Bros. and DC Films are still developing the Booster Gold movie, reveals director and writer Greg Berlanti. It was previously announced back in 2016 that a Booster Gold standalone movie was being developed and that it would not take place within the FRa5dXFHvmPbdi|DCEU, but details have been scarce since then. The choice seemed odd at the time, but fans have been waiting for updates for the character that’s closer to Deadpool than any other traditional superhero. It could be a way for DC Films to lighten their image and go after their own comedic-type of character.

Writer and director Greg Berlanti recently revealed that the Booster Gold movie is very much still in development at this time. Berlanti says that he already wrote the story and they’re trying to figure out where to place it. It’s been heavily rumored that the Joker origin movie will introduce a new DC Films banner, so the Booster Gold movie could very easily fit under that new banner. Berlanti had this to say.

“It’s still in development with DC. I wrote a draft, they’re trying to figure out both the distance that we still have to travel and how we want to execute it.”

Booster Gold isn’t your average superhero by any means. The character, is pretty much a fame-seeking, time traveling superhero who uses his knowledge of the future to stage heroic events to make himself look good. Booster Gold‘s real name is Michael Jon Carter, and he’s not into the job of a superhero for the normal reasons, which makes him stick out like a sore thumb, especially in the dark tones of the DCEU, which makes the movie pretty much perfect for the new DC Films Banner.

While the Booster Gold movie is still in development, there’s no telling if and when we’ll see it. Ultimately, it’s on Warner Bros. and DC Films, according to Berlanti. He says, “That’s really on them, they’re still kind of determining their order of business on that end.” If the movie gets the green light, it’ll still probably be a few years before it hits theaters. However, the Joker origin movie is rumored to begin production in May of this year, which means that production on Booster Gold could start after that. It’s also been rumored that Suicide Squad 2 will shoot this fall after Wonder Woman 2 finishes up over the summer.

It’s cool to hear that Greg Berlanti and DC Films are still trying to develop the Booster Gold standalone movie, which at one time was going to pair the superhero with Blue Beetle, but is it what Warner Bros. and DC Films need at this time? Fans have been excited about this news, so it seems that the character will be a welcome addition to hardcore DC fans. It will be interesting to see if the project gets off of the ground to see the public reaction to such an off-kilter type of character from DC. This report originally came from The Wrap.
