When Universal’s Fast & Furious 8 started production earlier this summer, the sequel started a tradition known as Fast Fridays, where the filmmakers would share a special behind-the-scenes video that offers a glimpse at what scenes they shot that particular week. It seems Paramount’s Transformers: The Last Knight is starting a new tradition of their own dubbed Transformers Tuesday, where they will share a new video each week for Transformers 5.
This week’s video, which debuted on the Transformers Facebook, reveals a scene that features a number of vehicles travelling down a highway, before a massive explosion takes out three of these SUV’s, which are seen rolling end over end on this desolate stretch of road. This video also gives us brief glimpses of Michael Bay in action, setting up this explosive scene. We don’t know where exactly in the movie this scene will take place quite yet, but hopefully we’ll get to see more in future Transformers Tuesdays videos.
The Last Knight centers on Optimus Prime, who has been searching through the cosmos for the Quintessons, the beings believed to be responsible for the creation of the Transformers race. Meanwhile back on Earth, Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager will be facing a new alien threat that brings Josh Duhamel’s Lennox and Tyrese Gibson’s Epps back into duty. Isabela Moner has signed on as the female lead, though no character details have been revealed. The supporting cast also includes Jerod Carmichael, Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins, but we don’t know much about what characters they’re playing yet.
Shooting will take place in Detroit, with various on-location shoots planned to take place throughout the world, such as Cuba. Transformers: The Last Knight is just the second major studio movie to shoot in the country since the U.S. trade embargo was lifted, following Universal’s Fast & Furious 8. Michael Bay is directing from a script by Iron Man writers Art Marcum & Matt Holloway. They are joined by Black Hawk Down writer Ken Nolan on the screenplay. The team were part of Paramount’s writer’s room that generated several ideas for Transformers sequels and spinoffs.
Paramount announced in February that they will release a Bumblebee spinoff, which is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2018. This movie will tell the never before heard origin of Bumblebee, although no specifics have been given. Since it will likley take place in the past and not on planet earth, we can only imaging what the next Bumblebee upgrade will look like. Take a look at the latest video from the Transformers: The Last Knight set below, and stay tuned for more as this sequel continues production.
