In the mid 1980s, there may not have been a bigger rock band than Guns N’ Roses. Earlier this year, the band’s long-awaited reunion finally happened, with original members Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash, along with drummer Frank Ferrer, kicking off their summer tour last night in Detroit. If you’re waiting for the band to come to your neighborhood this summer, you can check out a new documentary It’s So Easy and Other Lies, debuting on iTunes and VOD formats July 5. To get fans ready for this release, we have an exclusive clip that showcases the band’s early years.
The clip features Duff McKagan along with one of his best friends, Ed Huletz, who reveals how uncomfortable he was when his friend was playing huge venues like the Kingdome in Seattle. We also hear from Slash, who reveals that the group was like a “gang,” who no one could mess with whenever they walked into any room, and they were never intimidated by anybody. Duff’s brother also recalls his first experience watching him on stage, as he opened for Aerosmith.
Based on Duff McKagan‘s New York Times best-selling memoir It’s So Easy and Other Lies features exclusive archival footage. This is the authorized music documentary of the man behind the music. He is a founding member and bass player for Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver and other bands. The movie chronicles his meteoric rise to fame and fortune. We also get to see his near-fatal struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. And the movie also delves into his remarkable life transformation.
