Happy International Women’s Day, ladies! And I can think of no better way to celebrate than by taking a trip back to Gilead as a reminder of all the dystopian horrors we are fighting to keep as straight-up fictional. That’s right, we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek at new footage from season two of Hulu‘s “The Handmaid’s Tale” which returns with two new episodes available for streaming on April 25th.
When last we left Elisabeth Moss’ June/Offred, she was newly pregnant and in the back of a black van heading to … who knows where? She has disobeyed the powers that be in Gilead on multiple occasions and is currently aiding the resistance. She’s been raped countless times and tortured by Serena Joy with a glimpse of the still-alive daughter she cannot touch. We know that her husband has escaped to Canada, but a reconciliation seems all but impossible given June’s current situation.
We don’t learn a ton from the new footage, but Hulu says, “[The second season will be] shaped by Offred’s pregnancy and her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead. ‘Gilead is within you’ is a favorite saying of Aunt Lydia. In Season Two, Offred and all our characters will fight against – or succumb to – this dark truth.” Well, that sounds ominous AF. As does the voiceover we hear over the trailer: “Wear the red dress. Wear the wings. Shut your mouth. Be a good girl. Roll over and spread your legs. Yes, ma’am. May the Lord open. Seriously, what the actual fuck?”
And from the looks of this image, Moss is ready to burn it all down.

It seems insane to be this excited about a show that takes us to such dark places—but is it April yet? We’re so ready to #ResistSister.
