A soaring remake of the 1977 Disney classic, the big green monster known as Elliott flies back into theaters this August in the family adventure Pete’s Dragon. Following the full-length trailer released last month, which gave us a great look at the title character, we now have an extended TV spot, which shows off even more of the action, promising a late summer hit that will surly continue Walt Disney Pictures’ current reign at the box office.
Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford), a woodcarver, delights local children with stories of a mysterious dragon that lives deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. His daughter Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) believes these are just tall tales, until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley), a 10-year-old orphan who says he lives in the woods with a giant, friendly dragon. With help from a young girl named Natalie (Oona Laurence), Grace sets out to investigate if this fantastic claim can be true.
This new sneak peek delivers the song ‘North’ sung by actor Oakes Fegley. It is an ode to his best friend, the playful cat-like creature that he calls not only best friend, but also by his proper name Elliot. This latest footage introduces us to Bryce Dallas Howard’s Grace as she comes to see the world through Pete’s adolescent eyes. The wild forest boy is seen trying to adapt to modern life, but it’s not easy. We also get to see more of Elliott the dragon as he takes flight, and as he shows his more dangerous side to those that threaten to do him harm.
Disney debuted the first trailer in February, during ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 TV special. Disney also previewed this remake during their CinemaCon presentation in April. Now we get to see Elliott take flight for ourselves in this exciting teaser of what’s to come. Pete’s Dragon could be one of this summer’s last big hits at the box office, opening in theaters August 12, going up against Sony’s Sausage Party, Universal’s Spectral and Paramount’s Florence Foster Jenkins.
Along with the extended TV spot, we also have the most recent trailer in case you missed it. We also have a number of new photos and the poster. Get ready to take flight with what will surly be a timeless classic. Elliott is ready to be your next best friend. But are you willing and ready to let him into your heart? Strap yourself in and ride along with this latest footage courtesy of Youtube.
