We all need a drink after last night’s brutal The Bachelor finale, but Becca most of all. (Caution: Huge spoilers ahead.) Just to quickly recap: In the episode, Arie Luyendyk Jr. got down on one knee and proposed to Becca Kufrin with a $80,000 Neil Lane engagement ring. Everything was beautiful…until, a few weeks later, Luyendyk broke up with Kufrin on national TV to be with runner-up Lauren Burnham instead. Cue the screams.
For obvious reasons, many people felt Kufrin’s pain—and on Tuesday morning, she woke up to her Venmo blowing up with money from sympathetic strangers. According to Buzzfeed, women have been sending Kufrin money for everything from wine (mostly wine) to mozzarella sticks to Chipotle. Many are also using the opportunity to drag the (arguably) most-hated Bachelor in history.
“The teacher’s lounge says you’re better off with a llama,” one user wrote, while another user said, “Just because you dodged a bullet doesn’t mean you don’t need some wine.”
Another simply said, “U kno why.”
While women reportedly continue to send Kufrin virtual Pinots and Arie-lambasting haikus, Kufrin has gone on the record to say she ultimately forgives him.
“He’s a good person, I don’t think he’s a monster and purposely did this to hurt me and make me feel this way. But it’s just the result of his actions,” she told People. “At the end of the day, I don’t think he thought through everything of how ending things with Lauren would be, how being engaged to me would be and what breaking up with me and going back to her would be. I don’t think he thought it through, but I don’t think he did it maliciously to break my heart.”
Kufrin also shared some sympathy for her runner-up. “At the end of the day, we both just fell in love with the same guy and she can’t help that,” she added. “The only person that I can fault in this is Arie and the way he handled it. I do feel a little bad that it’s going to be really tough for them when all of this is said and done. Social media is a hard world to navigate through, and there’s going to be a lot of negativity and I don’t think she deserves that. If they want to make it work, then they will, and I hope they’re strong enough to get through it all.”
Perhaps we should start a wine fund for Lauren B, too.
