India Ross, 18, proved who runs the world (or at least the halls at her St. Louis high school) when she showed up to her senior prom last weekend wearing a sparkly dress inspired by Queen Bey herself.

Ross’ gown was based on Beyoncé’s 2015 Met Gala dress, a sheer Givenchy design strategically covered in multicolored crystals. To copy the look, the St. Louis teen teamed up with local designer Toi Hall, of Toi Box Couture, to design an opaque mesh dress painstakingly covered with over 2,000 hand-sewn jewels. She wore her hair in a high, curled ponytail and made sure to pose like the Lemonade singer in her many Instagram posts while wearing the dress.

“I met with Toi in the middle of April, and my dress wasn’t finished until the day of my prom. I was freaking out,” she told Cosmopolitan about the design process. “My designer said that making the dress was very time-consuming. You can’t just place rhinestones anywhere because it would have looked a mess.”

Ross told Cosmopolitan that she loved the finished result and has been surprised by how much attention her dress has been getting online.

“I knew I was going to look cute because, of course, I chose the design for my dress. When I gave my designer my money I said, ‘Can you make me feel like I’m Beyoncé?’ And that’s what she did,” Ross said. “I did not expect for it to blow up like this. It’s been wild.”

And you can expect even greater things from Ross in the future — she’s attending Columbia College in Chicago in the fall to study fashion merchandising and public relations.

“I want to open my own business and hopefully become a celebrity stylist one day,” she shared.
