'Wonder Woman' Has a Tiger Sidekick?

Yesterday, we showed you new Instagram photos from Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot and Connie Nielsen, which hinted that Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes and boxer Ann Wolfe may have been cast in mystery roles. While we still don’t have any confirmation about whether or not they have joined the cast, Connie Nielsen posted yet another photo yesterday, featuring a rather unique “co-star,” a tiger. Oddly enough this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a tiger being part of the movie.

Unfortunately, Connie Nielsen didn’t offer any details about her tiger co-star on her Instgram page, but last April, a report surfaced that former Wonder Woman director Michelle MacLaren couldn’t agree with Warner Bros. on several story points, one of which was that she wanted the title character to have a tiger sidekick. The report surfaced just one day after Michelle MacLaren left the project due to creative differences, with Patty Jenkins (Monster) coming aboard to replace her just a few days later.

The original report about the tiger sidekick and the rest of the studio’s creative differences with Michelle MacLaren was never confirmed, but most assumed that, if it were true, we surely wouldn’t be seeing a tiger in Patty Jenkins’ version of Wonder Woman. Still, we don’t know for sure if the tiger shown in Connie Nielsen’s photo is in fact Diana Prince‘s sidekick, or how this powerful animal fits into the story.

Production started on Wonder Woman back in November, with shooting now taking place in Italy, which producer Deborah Snyder recently confirmed will be used to film the Themyscira scenes. It isn’t known exactly how much shooting is left on Wonder Woman, but it’s also worth noting that filming recently began on Justice League Part 1, which Gal Gadot is certainly expected to be a part of. Warner Bros. recently moved Wonder Woman up by a few weeks, from June 23, 2017 to June 2, 2017.

Wonder Woman previously shot in London, where a World War I setting was replicated, which ties into last month’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While searching through Lex Luthor’s (Jesse Eisenberg) files, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) came across a photo of Diana, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and several other characters in 1918, during World War I. Aside from WWI and Themyscira, Wonder Woman is also expected to be partially set in present day, to tie into Justice League Part 1. While we wait for more details, take a look at Connie Nielsen’s tiger photo below, and chime in with any theories you might have on how this animal fits into the story.
