Teacher-student sex scandals are disgusting and pathetic, but I understand how they happen – teachers are teaching, students are student-ing, and before you know it there’s a full-blown orgy going down in third period geometry. But Kelsey McCarter?
She’s just the wife of a teacher; SHE DOESN’T EVEN TEACH. And the saddest part isn’t that she did it in the same house she lives in with her husband, but that they’d temporarily adopted the kid and he was living in their home. So not only is this kid thrown into a completely new environment, but he’s also getting sexually abused at home. Good parenting there, Kelsey.
According to Daily Mail, 27-year-old Kelsey McCarter and her husband, Justin McCarter, invited the unnamed student to live in their home after he’d had multiple behavioral problems at Knoxville’s South Doyle High School. Both he and his older brother not only played on the football team, but had lived with the McCarters for about one year when the alleged encounters took place back in 2015.
School administrators first became aware of the allegations after students reported seeing “sexual pictures of the wife and a student who was living with McCarter and her husband at the time.” The allegations then led to an investigation into the school’s principal, Tim Berry, and head football coach Clark Duncan. Both were suspended this past February after allegedly failing to “immediately report the allegations of child sexual abuse to the state Department of Children’s Services or law enforcement.” No charges, however, have been brought against either, though Justin McCarter resigned from his position as assistant football coach last year.
After her arrest, McCarter was able to strike a plea deal with prosecutors – in exchange for pleading guilty to all seven charges brought against her, she now only faces three years in prison as opposed to the original 38.
‘She made a mistake,’ her lawyer stated just after her hearing had concluded. ‘She’ll move past it. She’s young, and as you saw, her family is here in support of her. Her husband is strongly supportive of her.’
