The 31 Best Songs to Download From Stagecoach Music Festival 2018

When you think of country music, images of Chevy trucks, buckle belts, and Levi jeans probably come to mind. While those were all very, very much a thing at this year’s Stagecoach Music Festival—and in my photo below, natch—there was something else undeniable present: the talent of the female artists. Crowd favorites like Keith Urban and Florida Georgia Line may have headlined the weekend, but it was the women on the lineup who were the real highlights. It sends a powerful message given that Stagecoach is one of the largest country and folk events in the world.

Take Kacey Musgraves, who drew huge, adoring crowds on Saturday thanks to her critically acclaimed new album Golden Hour. The day before, Kelsea Ballerini shined with an upbeat performance full of relatable love songs and breakup jams. Even the acts considered “rising stars”—artists like Jade Bird and Lindsay Ell, who toe the line between indie rock and country—proved they have long careers ahead of them. Meanwhile, people of all ages came out to watch legend Tanya Tucker shimmy on stage. Trisha Yearwood further cemented her icon status by closing the festival with husband Garth Brooks to a massive, roaring audience. According to The Los Angeles Times, their performance even caused an all-time record for ticket sales at Stagecoach.

These women inspired me and their music has been rumbling around in my head ever since. I’d like for you to enjoy them too, so I created a playlist with a few of their most essential songs. I highly suggest listening to as you drive, with the windows down—ideally in a Chevy truck, as I did. (Full disclosure: Chevrolet provided a car for the weekend.) Not only does a road trip in a truck fit with the whole country aesthetic—let’s be real, music festivals are all about the ‘gram—but a great Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay stereo system means you can stream this Spotify playlist without interrupting your navigation. A key component to not getting lost in the Coachella Valley desert.

With that, listen—and enjoy—below:
