Point blank: teachers shouldn’t be allowed to bang their students. It’s not only an issue of consent in terms of the students being minors and the teachers having a position of control over them, but most parents probably wouldn’t be thrilled to find out that little Ricky is getting poon in the broom closet after third period history class. And so every time a teacher is discovered to be repeatedly sitting on kids’ faces, they are arrested.
For 32-year-old Samantha Ciotta, a married teacher from Beaumont, California, that point still stands – however the student in question had some choice words to say about their “relationship” that we’ll get to in a minute.
According to Mirror, Ciotta was arrested last month after allegations came to light that she had been sleeping with one of her 14-year-old students. The boy reportedly started at Ciotta’s school in 2015 after his mother died and his father was sent to prison; Ciotta began grooming him over the next year by gifting him an iPhone as well as expensive shoes and speakers.
After rumors began to spread, last month police discovered a Snapchat video that allegedly showed Ciotta in only her underwear and a shirt “with two underage boys without their shirts.” In addition to their state of undress, they were also drinking alcohol.
Now here’s the choice words I was talking about:
When another student asked the boy who had published the video if the woman was Mrs. Ciotta, he reportedly replied “Yes…Bro, I’m gettin’ in deep…been fucking her and getting threesome for the past couple weeks.”
It’s clear as day that no 32-year-old should be having sex with a 14-year-old, but in some states even if you’re 18 you can’t have sex with your student because it’s an abuse of power. What if, in one of the cases where the student was 18, he had this exact attitude towards his teacher’s indiscretions? In that case he’s legally an adult and appears to be consenting; do we still place all blame on the teacher? Is every teacher student sex scandal black and white, or are there shades of grey to occasionally be found? I don’t have the answer for you – I’m just curious to see what all your thoughts are.
Police are continuing their investigation and trying to find out whether Ciotta had sexual relations with more than one student at her school. Unsurprisingly, her husband Scott has filed for divorce and left their home with both of their children, though he was sure to tell local news sources that he still thinks Ciotta is “a great mother…and that myself and her family are very supportive of her.”
Right – that’s why you fled town. Makes total sense.
Upon her arrest, Ciotta was charged with unlawful sex and oral copulation with a minor. A court date has not yet been set.
