This year has been a complete dumpster fire, but there’s one group of people seeing us through it: the British royal family. Every time a depressing, tragic, or downright infuriating story comes out, a member of the royal family does something cute, fabulous, or iconic to remind us that not everything in the world is terrible. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement news helped us get through the first half of the week, and now Prince William’s taking over the second half. How? By delivering a Christmas list that his adorable son, Prince George, wrote to Santa.
Yes, cameras caught Prince William in Finland chatting up Father Christmas, and he came armed with some precious cargo: his son’s Christmas wish list. An eagle-eyed photographer managed to capture a clear shot of Prince George’s letter, which includes just one item: a police car. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of your ice-cold heart melting into a puddle on the ground.
Check out the photo for yourself, below. There’s no doubt that it’s actually Prince George’s handwriting.
And here’s a wider pic of Prince William and Santa Claus gabbing like two old pals at lunch. We wonder what they talked about. Foreign affairs? The environment? Prince Harry’s refrigerator habits? Fingers crossed it’s that last one.
This is the second time this year Prince George killed us with his cuteness. A few months ago Prince William, Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge), and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, embarked on a royal tour across Poland and Germany, and the photos literally made the sun come out.
Give Prince George anything he wants, Santa. Give him 1,000 police cars—he’s earned it.
