Alert: Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) just made their official debut as a couple at the Met Gala 2017.
After months of the paparazzi snapping these two on dates, Gomez and The Weeknd decided to make their union public at this year’s Costume Institute Gala. And we know you just want to see the pic, so check it out first, and then we can discuss:
Here’s another one of them cuddling and just being generally adorable.
And one more because we can’t get enough of these two together:
I’m crying. You’re crying. Gomez looks so damn happy in these photos; she even has The Weeknd smiling.
Her legion of fans will certainly be delighted because that’s all they want for her: to be happy. In August 2016, Gomez announced she was taking time off to deal with lupus-triggered aniety and depression. She came back stronger than ever at the 2016 American Music Awards that November with a speech urging fans to put themselves first. She followed this up with an executive producing credit on the popular Netflix show 13 Reasons Why and, oh yeah, a new relationship.
Gomez and The Weeknd were originally caught kissing in Santa Monica, California back in January. Paparazzi have documented their every move since then—from dates at Olive Garden to their vacation to Italy and, now, the Met Gala.
It’s only a matter of time before either Gomez or The Weeknd posts a photo of their evening on Instagram, further confirming their status as a couple.
