There’s a rumor that Kelly Ripa is threatening to quit “Live” unless Anderson Cooper replaces Michael Strahan as her new co-host.
A source told Us Weekly that Ripa is “talking about leaving” the show after being blindsided that Strahan is leaving his duties as co-host to join “Good Morning America.” This is purportedly the route she’ll take if her longtime pal and CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper, or Bravo host and “Real Housewives” producer, Andy Cohen, don’t fill Strahan’s position.
Both Cooper and Andy Cohen are in the news as possible replacements for Strahan, but an unidentified insider spills to Us that these are the only two people Ripa will approve as a new co-anchor.
The source tells Us: “Unless one of them can come on, she doesn’t really want to do it.”

Both candidates are busy with their own projects and it’s highly unlikely they’ll have enough room on their plate to co-host the show.
Gossip Cop reports that this is total bogus, and that Ripa is NOT giving the network an ultimatum. A source said to be close to the situation, tells the celebrity news surveillance website that the Kelly Ripa is “not true.”
Ripa is pushing the envelope on “Live,” however. On Friday’s episode she made a comment about contract negotiations during an animal segment on the show. She also brought up an uncomfortable subject for Strahan about his past divorces.
Strahan’s last episode on “Live” is May 13.
The rumors regarding Ripa’s position on the show persist without missing a beat. A huge report last week revealed that Kelly’s people talked with Disney and ABC executives — assuring her that the show will continue. It was one of her conditions upon returning to “Live” last Tuesday.
