Word is going around that producers of “Live! With Kelly and Michael” fear Kelly Ripa will launch an “on-air” attack when she returns to the show on Tuesday.
Ripa has good reason to be upset after feeling shafted by Disney and ABC executives when Michael Strahan announced he was leaving “Live!” to host full-time on “Good Morning America.” In spite of this, she’s not going to use the show as a platform to air her rage at anyone.
According to Gossip Cop, Radaronline was wrong in its report that top brass are shaking in their boots over Kelly’s return. The celebrity gossip site used an inaccurate story, as told by The New York Post, which claims executives fear Ripa will “go rogue on live TV.”
An inside source at “Live!” insists that Kelly will NOT start a war of words on-air. She wouldn’t “sabotage” her own show. In fact, she’s been assured that the show is staying put.
Michael Strahan said on this morning’s episode of “Live!” that he and the rest of the crew are “excited” for Kelly’s return on Tuesday. The pair have four more months to share the stage together. Will they make it work?
Several other reports have alleged that Ripa and Strahan haven’t gotten along the past two years. The co-hosts appear to have good chemistry, but there’s talk that what you see isn’t what you get when it comes to these two.
When Strahan leaves “Live!” in September, ABC will have a lot to look at in terms of ratings and what future decisions are at stake for the show. Selection for another co-host is currently undetermined, and may not happen for quite some time. Two candidates mentioned thus far have been CNN’s Anderson Cooper and actor/comedian, Neil Patrick Harris.
