TMZ Sports caught up with D’Angelo Russell in his home state of Kentucky to talk about his issues with Nick Young. The Los Angeles Lakers guard admitted that Young hasn’t forgiven him for recording a video of him revealing he cheated on his fiancee Iggy Azalea.
Russell shares that he thinks he’s done everything in his power to repair his relationship with his Lakers teammate. However, he doesn’t know if Young will ever get over the incident.
“I don’t know,” Russell admitted … “Only time will tell, right?”
A couple of months ago, a video surfaced of Russell recording Young on his cell phone. In the video, Young told his teammate that he cheated on Iggy with a 19-year-old at a club. Somehow, the recording from Russell’s phone got into the hands of the wrong person. The rumor is a former girlfriend found the video on D’Angelo’s phone and posted it to her Snapchat.
Iggy and Young have managed to salvage their relationship.
She told 103.7 KVIL’s Leigh Ann and Courtney Kerr that the engagement is still pretty well on even though she’s not wearing her ring.
“Ya, I guess I’m still engaged, I think so. I know [that] I haven’t called it off, I have to have a talk with him and see how the talk goes. We’re not unengaged yet. But he doesn’t deserve for me to be wearing his ring right now. We’re notnot engaged, but you have to, like, do some work for me to [see me] put the ring back on.”
The Lakers drafted Russell second overall in the NBA draft last year. He’s the team’s baby and they’ll most likely keep him until his rookie contract ends. Meanwhile, Young doesn’t have the same meal ticket potential. In short, Young is replaceable. Russell is not. It’s definitely in Young’s best interest to make nice with 19-year-old teammate even if he broke locker room code.
