The world is in mourning today after another beloved pop culture icon fell victim to the death curse that is the year 2016. After suffering a massive heart attack while traveling back to Los Angeles on Friday Carrie Fisher passed away at age 60 on Tuesday morning.
Loved by fans around the world for her portrayal of Princess Leia Organa, a leader of the Rebel Alliance in the Star Wars films, Fisher was also an author and screenwriter.
While Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds promised that the family would update everyone with her condition over the weekend, they released a statement through a spokesperson saying;
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.”
As news of a great disturbance in The Force made its way through The Internet, her Star Wars Co-stars, celebrities and the world as a whole reacted with sadness. Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill tweeted:
