In a lawsuit, a former lover claims that baseball player Carlos Martinez knowingly gave her STDs. And, she wants to get paid for it.
A Florida woman filed the lawsuit in Miami. She seeks more than $1.5 million for negligent transmission of a sexually transmitted disease.
The unnamed woman says she tested positive for STDs in the days following a December sexual engagement. The pair had an on-and-off again intimate relationship for two years.
The two reconnected last year — and began having sex again on Dec. 16th. Two days later, the woman claims she began to feel ill and later tested positive for multiple STDs.
“I can tell you most assuredly the allegations are 100 percent false,” Martinez’s attorney told TMZ.
The woman told the court that Martinez “swore to God that he was not infected with any sexually transmitted disease” before having sex with her. The STDs allegedly transmitted are not life threatening ones.
According to the lawsuit, the woman informed Martinez of her health status. He took off to the Dominican Republic and she never heard from him again.
The woman is from West Palm Beach, which is not far from the Cardinals’ spring training camp home base in Jupiter, Florida.
The team is aware of the charges but haven’t taken any action. Martinez still starts for the Cardinals.
Martinez is best known for favoriting sexual images on his Twitter account. The Cardinals organization reportedly had to sit him down and ask him to cut the habit.
