Anna Faris Liked a Tweet About Divorce a Week Before Announcing Split From Chris Pratt

The world became a little gloomier yesterday after Hollywood’s funniest couple, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, announced they’re separating after eight years of marriage. People tend to scream, “Love is dead!” when celebrity breakups like this happen, which is obviously an exaggeration—but not in this case. Faris and Pratt were so great together, damn it! Their breakup absolutely dampens the idea of love. It’s been more than 24 hours since their announcement, and everyone’s still shook.

“Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating,” the two said in a joint statement. “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son [Jack, born August 2012] has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

The reason for their split is unknown—but that’s not stopping social media users from dreaming up ridiculous (and offensive) theories that we won’t rehash here. Pratt and Faris were a very private couple, so it’s unlikely either of them will divulge the details of their breakup. And they shouldn’t have to! The only indications we have are quotes from their past—like this People magazine interview from a few weeks ago, where Faris said being in a power couple is “tricky.”

Or this Twitter reaction from last week. Both Us Weekly and Marie Claire report Faris favorited a tweet about divorce on July 30—just days before announcing her split from Pratt.

The tweet came from actress and author Kelly Oxford, whom Faris does follow. “So far the hardest part of divorce is not having anyone to yell with when the printer isn’t working,” she wrote. See the screenshot of Faris’ “like,” below:

So what does this mean? Was Faris foreshadowing her and Pratt’s announcement? Was this just a random (but ironic) favorite? The jury’s still out on that, but one thing is certain: This is all a bummer.
